I have a pretty old computer, but old Quake 2 isn't as fun, can somebody please give me console commands so the game doesn't lag?<br /><br />My computer specs:<br />RAM: 1.5 GB<br />Processor: Single core 2.8 GHz<br />Video card: Nvidia GeForce 6200, 256mb vRAM<br />Platform: Windows XP Service pack 3<br /><br />Thanks in advance!

try to use the fastest render: r_simple 1 (no per-pixel lighting and shadows)<br />If you want to use lighting/shadows, use any PPL render (arb4 a bit faster than arb6).<br />Set low-res videomode: 640x480<br />Disable anisotropic texture filtering<br />Disable mirrors: r_mirrors 0<br />For 256 Megs of VRAM: use r_picmip 1 and r_picmip_bump 1 for texture/bump downscale<br />Tuning for old hardware is the complex task. Berserker engine has the many cvars, see docs\cvars.doc

Sadly, I can't really understand what is said in the .doc - I'm still learning russian.<br /><br />I saw that ARB6 and ARB4 has bumpmapping, Is there any way to still have all those other cool stuff just without bumpmapping?<br /><br />I will try your given tips however - I have nothing to lose.<br /><br />EDIT: Tried all you said, still running stable 10 fps.
